The U/16 football team produced a fantastic performance to defeat St John Fisher High School 2-0 in the quarter final of the County Cup. The first twenty minutes saw Trentham struggling to maintain possession. Towards the end of the first half the team started to control the game and produced a couple of chances. The second half saw a very determined effort from the team which resulted in Elliott Turner scoring the first goal after fifteen minutes. St John Fisher were pushing hard for the equaliser when George Robson chased a long through ball from Josh Ryder, the goalkeeper came rushing out from goal to foul George just outside of the box. Harry Baggaley stepped up to take the free kick which he curled into the top left hand corner for a magnificent goal. This result takes us into the semi-final.
The U/14 team produced the performance of the round to defeat Landau Forte Academy, Tamworth 3-2 after extra time. This was the first time in over two years that they had been defeated. This means that we now meet Sir Graham Balfour, Stafford in the semi-final.
Both games will be at home and should take place before the end of February, weather permitting!! Good luck to both teams.
