Trentham students working at the School Games

Trentham students excelled in their role as part of the media team for The Sainsbury’s School Games in Manchester last week (4th – 7th Sept). Lily, Natasha, Kieron and Christopher worked really hard with students from 3 other schools to provide media coverage of this awesome event.

With Lottery funding in collaboration with the Youth Sport Trust and @digitalme_ (who provided the equipment and media skills), The School Games is a massive event involving school age athletes from 5 countries: England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Brazil. There must have been at least 7000 people in the Phones 4U Arena for the opening ceremony as practically every seat was taken and the atmosphere was electric.

Commentating with the legendary Mike Shaft on a wheelchair basketball game being broadcast live was an integral part of the experience. This was a great first time opportunity for many of the young media team.

The brief we were given on the first day was to produce a short film to highlight the importance of the Games’ values: Passion, Self-Belief, Honesty, Respect, Teamwork and Determination. The short film our students produced is below. Please be patient as it may take a moment to load.
